Freelancing Mommy
Freelancing was not in the grasp of my mind while studying and only finishing school was my ultimate goal when I was still a kid. I was competitive, and do my best to always hit that high grades and land a place in every grading period, and fortunately my hard work has paid off. I graduated and passed my license as a professional Nutritionist Dietitian. I worked right after I finished my board exam as a Nutrition Consultant in one of the biggest company in the country, I also became one of the Nutrition Researcher and part of the 6th National Nutrition Survey conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute under the Department of Science and Technology. And it was a 6-month straight no off duty research work all over the country. I also became part of a non- government organization as a Community Nutritionist, where we treat children who are acutely malnourished. And I continued working as a Nutrition Officer of the region where we monitor, delegate and educate the front liners in nutrition in every municipality, and even up to the barangays. My youth was filled with so much adventure while working.
But when you start building your own family and have kids, I am a wife and a mother of a two-year-old baby girl, and raise them with your own supervision. When all you want to do is to be with your little one and your husband, to spend quality time together, play and run after your baby’s mess, cook your husband's favorite dish. And when you just want to witness your child’s every milestone, her first words, first steps, first wound and many more firsts. Yet you still wish to work and provide for the family you build.
I have recognized that freelancing is the best option of what I desired pursuing. Working at home nowadays has taken so much importance not only for employees who wanted to avoid traffic jams and change its path from the corporate world to home-based jobs/freelancing but also for the business owners/employers who wanted to reach more people through social media. In present times where almost every individual has a mobile phone and she/he connects to the world through the internet. For business owners/employers to be not left behind and to keep up with the millennials, many have already used social media through the internet as one of their mediums to get more engagement and be recognized by people. So, as an individual who aspires to work at home, freelancing is my optimum choice.
I ventured learning on how to become a freelancer, to work at home as a virtual assistant. I am lucky that there are already online sites that offer quality learning at a very competitive price. Facebook was my entry tool to learn about FVA, where I enrolled and got my certificates to become a legit virtual assistant, made my very own portfolios and I can now provide virtual services, yey! FVA will guide, assist and teach you to become one of the best in your chosen niche. I find it very appropriate to all the mothers like me to be a freelancer, to work at home, and won’t need to worry about the growth and milestone of our little one because we are there to guide and experience their childhood journey. For now, this is the journey I wanted to pursue and become one of the best freelancers in the country in due time.
